After 20 years the Simpsons have changed their opening sequence. Lastnight the show had its premier in HD and with it brought the first revamp of the main titles since 1989. While some of the old parts remain (Bart still writes on the chalk board, Lisa still saxes her way out of music class, and Homer still throws radioactive material down his shirt) most of it has changed to catch up on 20-seasons worth of character additions. Apu’s octuplets now appear in the opening

She only has a few weeks to live and she’s going to live it to the fullest!

On Sunday, Brit reality star Jade Goody will marry her guy, Jack Tweed.

Her publicist has also hinted that TV rights to the wedding could go to the highest bidder.

Jade has made no secret of the fact that she’s trying to earn as much money possible for her two young sons.

This kind of TV whoring is something we can totally get behind!

On Monday, Jade visited Harrods department store and picked out a $4,900 wedding dress, a gift from the store’s owner Mohamed Al Fayed.

In a recent interview, the ailing TV star said, “I’m so looking forward to being a bride. And I want to walk toward my groom, just like any other young woman would on what is meant to be the best day of their lives. But I’m hoping I will have the strength to walk on my big day. It would be so cruel to be robbed of that one last thing as well.”

We wish you lots of happiness and joy on your big day, Jade!

Now, I haven’t been the only one to document Kanye West’s current obsession with anything and everything having to do with high fashion. It’s been reported in nearly every media outlet that if there’s a runway, you can expect Kanye (or “Kenny,” as the French and Japanese paparazzi refer to him) to be there. But it wasn’t until I sat behind him at the Elie Saab show yesterday that I realized just how deep that passion for fashion went. The mulleted part-time hip-hop artist told me that he was “sick, physically sick” at the thought that he had lost a piece of luggage with his favorite Margiela jacket in it. (Apparently he only just realized that one of his LV cases didn’t make it into his suite at Le Meurice, which leads me to wonder just how much luggage Monsieur West travels with.) He followed up the tale of woe with one of resourcefulness. Turns out that in his extensive experience in the fashion industry, he’s picked up a few tricks—like sewing. When the cleaners roughed up the white jacket he wore to Saab’s show they detached a part of the lining from the cuff. Well, a silly thing like an incompetent cleaner wasn’t going to mess up Kanye’s look, so he scooped up a sewing kit and whip-stitched it himself in the car on the way to the show. Maybe that’s why he was so late getting there.

The Galerie de Valois was hopping last night, what with the presentation of Anne Valérie Hash at the south end, Stella McCartney just up the way, and a few steps further: the unveiling of the first Corto Moltedo boutique with the full collection from Gabrielecorto Moltedo (known simply as Gabe to friends). Vintage doyen Didier Ludot stopped by to welcome his new neighbor; and fashionable friends Inès de la Fressange, Alexis Mabille, and André also popped in. “I’ve always wanted to be here,” the 31-year-old designer said. “Here, you find only specialists who do vintage, gloves, or glasses and that is what I am all about.” Inside, spare displays are made of repurposed shipping crates and a jukebox features Italian oldies with the odd entry by Kiss or the Bee Gees. Colorful clutches decorate the wall to the right but aren’t for sale: They are the house’s archives, a sampling of Moltedo’s custom creations. These start at €750, or $983, but other styles, such as a hot pink laptop case with a stitched motif and the gold C-star logo, is priced more accessibly at €250 ($327). “We only work with special materials, at my factory in Florence,” noted Moltedo. “I’m just happy to keep it small, to just be here and do my thing. The days of the It bag are over—where’s the money? Now, it’s all about value.”

“The waiters keep looking over here like they’re going to kill us,” said Heidi Mount as she sketched a portrait of Lara Stone onto her napkin and doodled hearts and stars onto the tablecloth at the fancy-pants restaurant that was home to the Stella McCartney after-party. “But hey, they should have known better than to leave markers on the table with the likes of us in here.” Indeed, the artistic attempts of Mount, Stone, Lily Donaldson, and Dasha Zhukova proved a pretty impressive distraction at the dinner, providing some of the wonderful art that you see here. One person who wasn’t upset at all by the scribbling-cum-graffiti art was Stella herself, who came over with her father, Sir Paul McCartney, after the musical performances. Marveling that such pretty girls could have such hidden talents, she told Zhukova she had better take the tablecloth back with her to Moscow. “C’mon, Dash, you should put this in your Garage [Zhukova’s museum],” she teased. “The Chapman brothers have nothing on this lot.”

What better way to start and end the Paris couture than a big Club Sandwich. I am of course referring to the now legendary Paris fashion party that Emmanuel d’Orazio and Marc Zaffuto started in 2005. (I haven’t had a good club sandwich in France for years. The bacon just ain’t crunchy enough.) Last Sunday night le tout Paris was at Club Neo for the fête, including the original DJs Burberry PR director Alex Malgouyres and accessories designer Erik Halley; the fashion desk of every newspaper; a handful of sweaty trannies; and even a sequined Lily Allen with Kim Jones. (That’s Casey Spooner pictured here with other revelers.) According to Zaffuto, it was just another night in the office. (Ask him about the time last season when Demi Moore, with Ashton and daughters in tow, helped distract some moody policemen called to break up the party, then at Maxim’s.) Expect more overdressed glamour at Club Sandwich’s official after-party for the Carla Bruni-hosted Sidaction Ball tonight here in Paris. “The night of the Sidaction is very important to us,” d’Orazio explains. “We’re very happy they asked us to host this party for them. And all of the night’s proceeds will go to the Sidaction.” So expect the typical looks—which d’Orazio decrees should be “colorful, sexy, and energetic,” adding that boys can show up in tuxedos or high heels or “horny shorts,” which I assume are the French equivalent to Daisy Dukes—and the typical drama. Oh, that reminds me of another story: when Dita von Teese showed up in man drag. But you’ll have to ask Zaffuto for more on that one.

“We really needed this,” said Christian Cota, the Manhattan-based, Mexican-born designer of elegant eveningwear, after receiving Fashion Group’s Rising Star Award for women’s apparel at the Rainbow Room today. (Carlos Campos and Sergio Davila were co-winners in the menswear category.) “This award is a real barometer of success,” said FGI president Margaret Hayes as she opened the ceremonies. Certainly the presence of past recipients Phillip Lim and Jason Wu—now household names—seem to bear her statement out. The crowd cheered at the mention of Wu’s name. The designer, who seems to be taking his newfound fame in stride, smiled warmly in response. “I’m used to being behind the scenes,” he modestly said over lunch. What price glory? The designer has to focus more of his energy on crowd control and security at his upcoming show. Keynote speaker Tory Burch, no stranger to the spotlight, admitted to being involved in every aspect of her business from design to the comfort of the couches in her boutiques. What’s the secret to her success at a tumultuous time? “Focus and a narrowed vision,” she said.
